About me

My name is Ranjani, and I'm 18. I'm a Plan II Honors/Biology/Linguistics freshman at The University of Texas at Austin. I live in Texas with my fat dog and other wayward woodland creatures. The name "biscuitrat" is a remnant of my Diablo II days, along with my stash of SOJs. Shh! Don't tell anyone!

Some day, I'd like to say that I've served in Doctors Without Borders, performed on Broadway, been a contestant on Jeopardy, and served a term or two in the House or the Senate. So, sort of like Cher with a stethoscope.

I'm a writer, an artist, a singer, a pianist, a brand new guitarist, a trombonist, and a captain (of my Latin Certamen trivia team and the Ancient Geography category). I am a member of Random Shapes and MintPages, and I write (sometimes) for Devlounge. I have secret shrines to The Beatles, Radiohead, David Bowie, and Monty Python in my closet. Don't tell the Spanish Inquisition!

My philosophies

My political views are rather liberal. I value openness, tolerance, freedom of expression, and so on. You will probably see this emerge in my political writing. I am naturally optimistic and I believe that all people are inherently good. I consider myself to be a Hindu, although I like pondering about religion itself in my head.

This site

I use Movable Type 4.1 to publish this site, but the design is 100% mine. I make my code as semantic as I can get it, and I'm always on the lookout for new techniques and tricks. This site is a work in progress. I change things around in little ways all the time.
