I've noticed an unusual trend around people at my school to look absolutely ridiculous despite apparently putting hours into what they wear. For example, a crowd of girls wearing mini-skirts, and tights under them. As if they were trying to hide the fact that they were wearing short skirts from school authorities. Why wear them at all if you want that much extra weight on your legs? Over the past month, I've seen people with crappily dyed platinum blonde hair wearing little clips — the kind you wear to keep your first bit of hair from falling on your face when you're, what, one? — with the same regalia; people walk around in ties and spiked hair hairsprayed to hell and back, thick unnecessary glasses, and terribly dark eyeliner. Punk revival, my ass. The only thing it does is make your eyes dark and scary, vampire style.

Word to the wise: if you were actually trying to look splendiferous, you'd take a tip from my friend Lindsay, who by the way, is a wonderful poet. But so much for my screaming. I only ever notice when I'm bored.

All in all, society's retarded. I'm tired of going into an advanced class and seeing the same group of slackers, confident that they can sleep through it and still do the homework. Good for you, you didn't earn the grade. I've been getting advice from (now) seniors who say that you can skip a test and take the makeup, do corrections, and turn in extra credit to end up with a 90. See, that's all fine until it's time for finals. I don't think that will apply then.

In addition, I've been suckered into doing Extemporaneous stuff in Debate, as in, an actual category. Basically, I'll be ferreting articles into my memory and using them to wreak havoc on the combined intellects of others. That's another thing — debate and Latin both are certain to have intellectuals in the way that band won't. People in band are either abysmally stupid or incredibly smart. I just got moved into a class full of the former, all of whom can barely play their horns. We're lucky if we have two of any instrument other than saxophones and trumpets, which we have too many of. It bothers me, because I was 1st chair in my band, and now I'm basically last chair overall. GOD I HATE MARCHING SEASON.

After another nerve-racking round of buying school supplies, I have to settle down and look at the rest of the fees I have to pay. I don't have any news on my dad's job yet, but I hope it's for the best. I'm taking a night-time piano lesson now, instead of my traditional morning one to compensate.

But good news is around the bend. I'm making headway in Ventura and Moira (new title needed). I'll post samples the next time I have five minutes. In addition, I'm starting work on revitalizing NOGS with a friend or two, so I'll definitely be occupied.

My new rendition of NOGS.

Mmmm I kind of agree. I hate when people invest lots of time in their wardrobes, only to end up looking just like everyone else. It pains me.

I really like your layout… it’s spiffy, and looks really well constructed! It’s nice that you concentrate on more than just appearance, and want to get the nuts and bolts working as well as they can!

That NOGS thing looks interesting… Seriously, is there a way I could help? I do web design and I consider myself a passionate learner… I’d be really interested in joing your site, if nothing else! :)

Oooh, now there’s an idea! We originally had everything ready to make it a proper non-profit organization, but things just fell apart. Rather annoying, when you’re right there.

I’ll definitely let you know when we start working. It’ll probably involve a whole lot of IMing/forum stuff that I’ll need to set up soon.

And by the way, your site is very pretty as well! I was so happy when I hovered over your titles. The red is so scrumptious! there.

The tights you were referring to is the current style here right now, it’ll probably go away in a few months. But I think it looks pretty cute. Heh.

Hopefully your dad gets a good job so you can go back to your morning piano lessons. :)

I actually like the night one. I don’t have to get up in the middle of anything to go to it.

I just don’t understand a lot of the fashion ideals of my school, I suppose. I wish they made sense to me. But of course, everyone likes being materialistic and self-esteem-less /sarcastic :(.

Your worse than the people you describe- ‘learn to see’. Judgemental twat.

I’m pretty sure it’s not a matter of good or bad, Barbs, whoever you are. I’m not saying anything about myself. What I’m saying is I see mediocrity everywhere that is being accepted. And although I prefer to not be called a “twat”, expression is expression, but there’s a limit to what looks pleasant. A lot of the people at my school, regardless of whether they spend hours getting ready, don’t show the finished product well. Some people can pull it off, others can’t. My article is about the latter; if you are one of the latter, if you’re even reading this, don’t let me dissuade you. You can do what you bloody well please, and I don’t see how me writing would make a difference.

However, I got a laugh out of this. My first mean comment! How flattering!
